GRAND OPENING OF HARVEY RANCH ESTATES TO ADD CRITICAL HOMES AMIDST WALLA WALLA’S HOUSING SHORTAGE

Hayden Homes will host two events on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11 and give $10,000 to Walla Walla YMCA in celebration of building a strong community together

Walla Walla, Wash., Nov. 7, 2023—Hayden Homes, the largest private home builder in the Northwest, together with the Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce, invite local media and community members to join Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening events for the Harvey Ranch Estates on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11. Both events will take place at 1193 Ava Street in Walla Walla, where tours will be offered of a gorgeous new model home.

In recent years, Walla Walla has faced a severe shortage of housing supply, driving home prices higher and creating hardships for families across the region. Around 3,570 new housing units are needed in Walla Walla alone in the coming years to address the shortage and keep up with expected growth, according to the Regional Housing Action Plan adopted by the City of Walla Walla in 2021.

As part of the Action Plan, residents were asked, “What is the great barrier to home ownership?” The most common response: the availability of homes (32.6% of respondents). The grand opening of the Harvey Ranch Estates community marks a significant milestone in addressing the housing availability crisis facing the Walla Walla region by adding 235 new homes to the region’s housing stock.

“The events this week at Harvey Ranch Estates are about so much more than touring a beautiful model home. We’re celebrating access to homeownership for hundreds more residents and making significant strides to addressing Walla Walla’s housing shortage,” said Rees Wasney, regional vice president for Hayden Homes.

At the Ribbon Cutting event on Nov. 9, Hayden Homes will also provide a donation of $10,000 to the Walla Walla YMCA as part of the company’s Give as You Go™ mission, which seeks to build a strong community across the Northwest so that we all can lead fulfilled lives.

“This contribution from Hayden Homes puts the company’s heart on display–this home builder is just different,” said Karen Hedine, the chief executive officer at the Walla Walla YMCA.

“These funds will support our quality-based childcare program, as well as our Youth and Government out of school program, where teenagers learn about community needs and engage in the process of effecting change within their communities. It’s such an incredible investment in the future of Walla Walla.”

The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening events will feature local artisan food and wines, photoshoots for families and the chance to win a one-night stay at The Eritage and a wine tasting for four at Caprio Cellars.
