WHAT YOU GET TO DO
The Estimator will be charged with reviewing the scope of construction work to be done to determine the type of work, materials, project duration, and responsibilities for construction. This is essential to using information and background knowledge to assemble complete and competent bidder’s list, coordinate pre-bid meetings, bid review meetings, and track job costs throughout the project. In addition, must generate estimating deliverables on assigned projects and develop accurate conceptual cost models/budgets.
- Conduct the full bidding and estimating of home projects.
- Conduct new subcontractor searches for various trades and scopes of work.
- Send out plans to subcontractors requesting labor bids.
- Create and maintain standardized bidding with constant effort to streamline process.
- Review and compile bids into a job cost detail for entry into Sapphire Build Program.
- Work closely with production team to ensure all knowledge of job is passed downstream
- Review complete Estimate Detail after job is built in Sapphire Build for accuracy.
- Work with Production and Operations regarding front end schedule, setting priorities and improving efficiencies.
- Keep Hayden Homes Sr. Project Managers apprised of across the board pricing issues.
- Be available for Sales Agents regarding custom options and instant quote pricing.
- Collaborate with all teams when discrepancies or questions arise from the original estimate.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Education:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of four years of related construction experience required.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret building codes and construction documents.
- Ability to creatively solve problems and work under time constraints with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to all levels of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and customer service skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to establish strong relationships with all levels of the organization as well as build relationships with outside resources.
- Ability to work with suppliers, trades, customers and internal team members to discuss and document requirements/changes, address concerns and provide timely project status.
Travel: Approximately 5% annually within local and regional areas. Employee will use their own vehicle.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role but occasionally will require the need to reach with arms and use hands and fingers to grab, pull, push and lift. At times the position will require the need to stand, crouch, crawl, stoop, and bend. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds or more.
