Refurbishing West Albany High School’s Baseball Field

HAYDEN HOMES TO REFURBISH WEST ALBANY HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL FIELD AND GIVE $2,500 ON BACK-TO-SCHOOL VOLUNTEER DAY

Mayor Alex Johnson II will attend the Sept. 10 event to share remarks on the value of public-private partnerships to Albany

Albany, Ore., Sept. 4—On Sept. 10, more than 20 team members from Hayden Homes and Simplicity by Hayden Homes will come together to make a whirlwind of “improvements” to the West Albany High School baseball field, bleachers, and dugouts. Community and media are invited to join if desired. Please see event details below.

The baseball facilities have fallen into disrepair in recent years. Significant weather damage has warped the siding on the dugouts and bleachers. The field also needs landscaping and re-spreading of dirt and cinders.

On Sept. 10, Hayden Homes volunteers will provide more than 60 hours of service to re-secure and bolt down bleachers; replace inside walls and siding of the dugouts; install a new metal roof on the dugouts; paint the dugouts; and make significant landscaping improvements including scraping weeds on the skirt and foul territories, laying landscaping felt, spreading cinder, loading up and discarding an old wall outside the center field, and cleaning up the area around the dugouts.

“These facilities are used by all youth baseball players from girls and boys softball and baseball, all the way up to our varsity high school teams,” said Marty Johnston, head baseball coach with West Albany High School. “We are so grateful to Hayden Homes for investing in providing safer facilities for our youth, where they can grow and develop as people and athletes. It will just mean the world to our teams.”

Upgrades and refurbishment of the baseball facilities have been an ongoing project for Simplicity by Hayden Homes Senior Project Manager Adam Cumpiano and Danny Gerard, the president of RDG Construction. RDG Construction is donating all the materials for the dugouts’ re-siding and roofing. The two say they are also personally committed to supporting future repairs on the batting cage facility, which also has a leaky roof and warped siding.

“At Hayden Homes we are truly committed to our philosophy to Give As You Go™ so that we build a strong community where everyone can lead a fulfilled life,” said Brett Swanson, regional director for Hayden Homes. “The youth of our community deserve our support, and by making these repairs we want them to hear the message that they matter and we believe in them.”

Mayor Alex Johnson II will attend to make remarks about the value of these kinds of community partnerships in Albany, and his hope that local businesses will continue to seek opportunities to support community needs.

“Hayden Homes and RDG Construction are community partners who understand that by working together we can achieve so much more than any of us can do alone,” said Johnson. “We are grateful for their care and commitment to Albany.”
